Week 4: Puzzles, Bowling, Pointe Shoes and More!

Week 4 is officially wrapped up! Our regular homeschool group day was canceled due to the weather, but since we were ahead on most of our schoolwork, we enjoyed a nice, relaxing week. We cozied up by the fire with some good books, went shopping for pointe shoes, worked on a puzzle, watched the inauguration, and even went bowling with friends. It was a great week—if only it hadn't been so cold!

This marks my 4th week using my new Documented series, which I’ll be creating throughout 2025 to capture my year. Since I’ve now completed a few pages with this first set, I thought I’d share what I love about them—despite being my own design!

First, they’re incredibly simple and quick to use. Because they follow more of a Project Life style, I don’t need to add a lot of papers or embellishments. Initially, I wasn’t sure I’d like that simplicity, but I really do! I can finish a whole double-page spread in under 20 minutes, which frees up time to work on other scrapbook projects. (I'll be sharing more about my next project tomorrow on the blog!)

Another feature I love is the built-in QR code placement. The template already includes it, so I don’t have to hunt through my stash for a fun QR code element. This not only saves time but also ensures I don’t forget to include it!

The templates are also super easy to tweak to fit my photos. For example, on this page, I adjusted the polaroid-style photo spots to better fit the orientation of my pictures.

The only thing I need to work on is taking a variety of horizontal and vertical photos—I’ve gotten way too used to snapping vertical shots for Instagram! Oops.

Week 3 & Some Extra Pages!

Yesterday, I scrapbooked the first week of 2025. The beginning of the week was filled with lots of snow play, while the rest of it settled into a more normal routine as we got back into our school rhythm.

Since these pages have been quick and easy to put together, I'v also had some time to scrapbook a few challenge pages over at Hey Scrapper. I love how the challenges spark creativity and let me scrapbook just for the fun of it. Even though I have specific scrapbook album goals for this year, sometimes it's nice to step away from them and create something just for the joy of it!

This was for The Daily: Jan 15, Use a Quote Challenge.  I really wanted to scrapbook a quote from one of my kids, but my mind went blank when I tried to think of one (note to self: write down all those funny things your kids say!). So instead, I chose a quote from one of my all-time favorite books. And let’s be real—the 1995 BBC TV series adaptation is THE BEST. Debate me if you dare!

This was for the January General Challenge: 5 Things About Me. It was hard to pick 5 things but I think this gives a pretty good look into what permeates my life.

Here's week 2 of 2025! We had a snow storm come through so we had a couple of snow days. We haven't had a good snow in a couple of years so we really enjoyed it.

Documented Scrapping Tutorial

After creating my first scrapbook page using my new Documented Templates 1 this week, I thought I’d share my process for putting together my weekly pages

1. I open Photoshop and save the template with a new name (e.g., 1_Week_2025).

2. I gather all the photos and videos from my phone, as well as any from my husband and sometimes my adult children, depending on the week’s events. I organize everything into folders by Year > Month > Week, placing all videos in a separate folder. Then, I delete any duplicate photos or ones I know I won’t use.

3. I use Clipchamp to compile all my videos into one clip. I download the video to my weekly photo file.

4. I upload that video to youtube.

5. I copy and paste the video link into QR Stuff and download the QR code to my pictures file.

6. Next, I place my photos and QR code onto the template. If you need more details on how to use digital scrapbook templates, you can find my tutorials here.

7. Then I use RadLab to edit my photos.

8. Finally I add papers, a few elements, and journaling.

And here's my finished page!
